Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How would you describe your photographic style?

A. I photograph in a Photojournalistic or Photodocumentary style. This means that I document the events and emotions of the day in real time and without any direction, interference, or posing. As a result, you get to spend more time with your guests enjoying the event rather than spending most of the day posing for photographs.

Q. Do you photograph any formal portraits?

A. A few. Most people still want some of these photographs. However, I try to keep these to a minimum (30 or less) so that you can quickly return to your guests and enjoying your wedding day/event. If you consider the formal group pictures and posed portraits as the most important aspect of your wedding day, I recommend finding a traditional style wedding photographer who specializes in formal, posed portraits.

Q. Can you just hold my date for me?

A. I'm sorry, but I cannot hold a date without a deposit and a signed contract.

Q. I'd like to talk to you about photographing my wedding, what's the best way to get in touch with you?

A. Email is preferred (kendra@athsndwords.com), but you can also contact me though Yahoo! IM, username athsndwords, and by phone (417) 777-2752.

Q. Do you have a studio I can visit?

A.Not for portraits at this time. I do have plans for a studio and gallery in the future. For now I do portraits on location and have a small studio set up in my home for Product shots. If you would like to meet with me there are many options...just e-mail me :).

Q. Why does it cost so much?

A. Before I opened this business I asked this question also. I could not understand why the pros charged so much when it seemed so simple. After starting out on my own I understand. We try to make the experience as easy for you as possible, but what may take 2 hours with you turns into 12-19 hours on our own. As with any business there are operating costs, utilities, fuel for vehicles, props and backdrops, camera equipment and maintenance, but there is also a lot of time spent uploading, editing, ordering and packaging your investment. I came across this great site, detailing all that goes into what we do: Professional Child Photographer Consumer Guide .

Q. As a Realtor, why should I hire you when I can take the photos myself?

A. For the same reason that I should hire you to sell my home instead of selling it myself. Like you, I've been trained to do my job. I know the things to look for that others may miss.

Q. Is it really worth it to have you photograph my listing for me?

A. Research shows that potential buyers rate images as the most important item that they look for when reviewing a property on the Internet. They rate images above all other information, including description and features. Recent figures also show that when comparing properties that have pictures taken by a photographer rather than pictures by an estate agent, the property with the high quality images is 1.5 times more likely to be sold in the same set amount of time. The same research also shows potential purchasers are almost 3 times more likely to visit properties that use professional photography as a marketing tool.
